Battle Soap
Hi, I'm Victor, founder of BATTLESOAP. BATTLESOAP started as an antibacterial and antifungal soap bar product, made for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts and all other athletes. Antibacterial, antifungal hygiene products are especially required in contact sports where there is a greater risk of contracting skin infections such as staphylococcus and ringworm. We’ve since expanded our range, offering athletes and the everyday customer, body wash, body wipes and relaxing bath salt products.
Our premium hygiene products are handmade with the finest quality essential oils and ingredients, specifically selected for their clinical proven effect against ringworm, staph and harmful microbes.
How did I get started?
BATTLESOAP started as a “criticise by creating” project. As a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete myself, I tried all the existing antibacterial, antifungal soap bars on the market made for athletes and sports hobbyists. I found that the lasting impact on my skin was not great and the price point, extremely high. I began my research on the soap manufacture process as well as researched ingredient properties with the help of a close friend who specialises in dermatology. From this, BATTLESOAP was born. Or, Frank’s Battle Soap at the inception.
How did I hear about SWEF and what led me to apply for a grant?
I was doing some research online into business grants and funding options and discovered SWEF that way. Looking into other businesses that have previously used SWEF to advance their business, I decided to apply.
How did the grant help develop BATTLESOAP?
My business was set up under the name Frank’s Battle Soap initially, with a low-quality logo and website. I was also looking into revamping product packaging at the time. The grant from SWEF was instrumental to levelling-up of the business. Frank’s Battle Soap was able to rebrand as BATTLESOAP with a quality logo, redesigned website and proper product packaging design and branding.
How the businesses finances have changed since receiving the grant?
Since implementing the changes to the business our sales have increased by roughly 40% with a robust platform from which to continue growing.
How else might I have funded investment in the business?
Without the SWEF grant, I would have had to self-fund the re-branding of my business from my personal account, which would have been in slower time, and I may not have been able to capitalise on the momentum built by the business before the rebrand.
Where I see my business in a years time
Currently, the business is focused on building in terms of marketing, as well as forming a strong manufacture and standards base to allow for growth, while giving our customers greater confidence in our products. In a year’s time, I see BATTLESOAP being on more shelves in sports stores, gyms, orthopaedic practices etc. in addition to having a larger online customer base.
Additional information about BATTLESOAP
BATTLESOAP, while created for athletes primarily has been a great help for many individuals suffering from ache and problem skin issues. It was created for my fellow athletes so great care is taken to ensure that only the best, sustainable high-quality ingredients and no fillers are used.
